A C Moore Herbarium offers resouces via its website

Making It Grow Radio Minute

One of the features at U S C’s A C Moore Herbarium that I find fascinating is at their website. Just search herbarium.org and you’ll get there. Then from the menu select plants. That takes you to another page and you can choose S. C. Plant Atlas. Next, chose the alphabet letter of the genus you want to find out about. That takes you to all the plants with generic names starting with that letter – scroll down until you get to the genus you’re interested in. The map will show every county in the state where that plant has been documented. Recently we were talking about mountain mint, genus Pycnanthemum. When I looked it up, there were eight species and some of them are all over the state – so much for the common name “mountain” mint.

She studied horticulture at Clemson University as a non-traditional student. “I’m so fortunate that my early attempts at getting a degree got side tracked as I’m a lot better at getting dirty in the garden than practicing diplomacy!” McNulty also studied at South Carolina State University and earned a graduate degree in teaching there.
