Bullying is more common in elementary schools than parents might expect. About one in four children report being bullied at school, and the negative effects can follow them for years: shaping their confidence and social skills.
New research shows that bullying occurs more often in classrooms with frequent disruptions where teachers struggle to keep students on task.
In structured classrooms, reports of bullying decrease. It’s a clear reminder of how much influence teachers have.
By encouraging kindness and consistency at home, parents help reinforce the calm, predictable environments teachers work to create — the kind of learning spaces where all children can thrive.
