For South Carolina Public Radio, I’m Dr. Rénard Harris from the College of Charleston. This is Teachable Moments, a minute of education for students and parents.
On the eve of America’s 250th anniversary, the College of Charleston reflects on its place in history. Founded by leaders who helped shape the nation, the College has long been tied to the American experiment — a place where ideas, civic responsibility, and public service took root.
That history still guides the work happening on campus today. Faculty are preparing students for the next century of challenges: marine scientists studying climate and ocean health, engineers stepping into Charleston’s growing manufacturing sector, and healthcare leaders advancing medical innovation.
The College continues to balance its history with a deep commitment to preparing students for the future.
For the College of Charleston, I’m Dr. Rénard Harris.
