Lows Wednesday morning

A preview of winter is on the way to the Palmetto State in time for the Thanksgiving holiday, which will likely mark the end of the growing season for most.

Winter is still several weeks away, but the Palmetto State is getting an early preview of what's to come as Freeze Warnings go into effect Tuesday night. Temperatures Wednesday morning will fall into the middle 20s from Aiken, to Columbia, to Florence. Upper 20s to lower 30s can be expected along and east of I-95 overnight. Lows have not been this cold along the immediate coast since early March, and since early April for areas farther inland.

Freeze Warnings

The chill might be here to stick around for a few days, with multiple nights expected where lows could drop below freezing. Wednesday night will be another cold one, with overnight lows dropping into the lower 30s in the Lowcountry. A reinforcing shot of cold air settles in for Friday night, with yet another night of sub-freezing temperatures likely across the Palmetto State.

No relief from below average temperatures looks likely in the short-term. The Climate Prediction Center predicts much of the East Coast to be cooler-than-average through the end of November.
