An unsettled weather pattern over the Easter weekend is expected across South Carolina, as increasing moisture and a passing cold front will produce scattered showers and thunderstorms.

While the greatest impacts are expected to on Sunday, the overall setup does not lead itself to being a heavy or prolonged rainfall event.

Shower and thunderstorm activity is expected to increase on Sunday, particularly across the Upstate during the morning hours, leading to the potential interruption of outdoor events.

Sunrise times on Easter are generally between 6:55 a.m. and 7:15 a.m., meaning your location will determine whether there will be impacts during that timeframe or later on during the day.

Farther east, including areas along Interstate 95 and the coast, Sunday morning is expected to remain mostly dry, but rain chances will increase through the afternoon and evening as the frontal boundary progresses eastward through the state.

Despite widespread rainfall chances, forecast totals are expected to remain rather minimal.

Most communities are expected to receive less than half an inch of precipitation, with many areas seeing significantly lower amounts.

The rainfall will not be significant enough to make a dent in the drought, but it could be sufficient enough to impact pollen counts next week.

Sunday's temperatures will be somewhat muted by increased cloud cover and rainfall, but the day will still remain mild with widespread highs in the 70s and a few 80s.

Behind the cold front, a noticeable change is expected to arrive early next week, with cooler and drier conditions filtering into the region.

High temperatures during the upcoming workweek are forecast to only reach the 60s and 70s, while overnight lows could dip into the 40s in many areas.

The change in weather pattern will mark a return to more seasonable conditions and even below-normal temperatures during the upcoming workweek.
