Sand dunes, oyster reefs, maritime forests, and salt marshes all play important roles in buffering storm impacts and helping coastlines recover. Sometimes what looks like damage is actually part of a natural process that has occurred for thousands of years.
By understanding and working with these natural systems, we can build stronger, more resilient coastal communities for the future.
