As summer begins to wind down, South Carolina's beaches and coastal habitats welcome thousands of migratory shorebirds making incredible journeys along the Atlantic Flyway.
Species like red knots, sandpipers, and plovers rely on our coast to rest and refuel before continuing their migration. You can help these birds by giving them space, keeping dogs under control where required, and avoiding disturbances to feeding flocks.
These migrations connect South Carolina to ecosystems across the hemisphere and remind us that conservation is truly a shared responsibility.
