Hello this is Dr. Tom Mullikin with SCDNR for Into the Wild.
For a lot of kids, that first bluegill or small bass isn't just a fish - it's a first lesson in how ecosystems work. They learn that fish need clean water, structure like fallen trees or grass beds, and healthy food chains to thrive. They learn that regulations - like size and bag limits - aren't there to complicate things, but to make sure the experience is there for the next generation.
Sometimes the most important catch isn't what's on the line. It's the memory made between casts.
