Thanksgiving is a day to gather with loved ones and give thanks, but why stop there? Research shows that practicing gratitude year-round can transform your outlook, boost happiness, and strengthen relationships.
At the College of Charleston, Psychology professor James Hittner has found that people who regularly express gratitude report lower levels of stress, anxiety, and depression.
The reason it works is because gratitude shifts our focus from what’s missing to what’s present. And it doesn’t take much—a thank-you note, a moment of reflection, or keeping a gratitude journal can make a difference. This Thanksgiving, start the habit and keep it going all year long.
