Low pressure increases rain & storm chances across South Carolina

A low-pressure system moves over the southern part of the Southeast and will impact South Carolina starting Sunday night. Rain and rounds of scattered storms will affect much of the State on Monday. The first batch of storms will impact the Lowcountry late Sunday night and overnight into Monday morning. The rain will move in and cover the entire state as winds bring moisture from the Atlantic. The rain will likely cover the whole state by sunrise. It will be a wet Monday, with the chance for isolated storms, mainly along the coast in the afternoon hours, likely by the Pee Dee during the afternoon.

The winds will shift, and as the low-pressure system moves east-northeast, away from South Carolina, there will be drier air filtering in. The clearing will happen gradually as Monday night progresses. By Tuesday morning, the winds will be from the west-northwest, with mostly dry weather. Regarding the temperatures, two mornings will be below average as a pocket of cold air sits over the state. Lows will be in the upper 40s in the Upstate and low-50s in the Midlands, while the coast will stay between the upper 50s and low 60s.

The high-pressure system guiding the west-northwest winds will shift east, bringing beautiful weather to the Palmetto state. We expect calm, benign weather throughout the work week after Monday. Winds will be calm, but temperatures will be on the rise. The afternoons will be slightly above average and reach the mid-to-upper 70s Wednesday through Saturday.
