A line of storms will push through South Carolina on Monday. The threat for severe storms has increased to 'enhanced,' and now we forecast numerous severe storms that can produce damaging winds of at least 70 mph, large hail, and a few strong tornadoes (at least EF 2).
Strong to severe storms will be moving from west to east, entering Upstate during the late morning. By mid-afternoon, the storms will be pushing through the Midlands and arrive at the coast by the late afternoon. Most of the activity will clear the state by 9 p.m. Make sure to stay indoors if you hear thunder or see lightning and have at least three ways of receiving weather alerts. The safest place in case a tornado warning is issued to your location is the most central room on the lowest level of your home, away from windows. This is usually a pantry, bathroom, or closet.

The winds will be very briefly from the north on Tuesday morning, but the cold front will quickly move away, allowing a warm front to push through the state on Wednesday. Therefore, the winds will shift from the south-southeast through the rest of the week. Friday and Saturday are forecast to stay abnormally warm, with temperatures that could be around the low 90s across much of the Palmetto State.
