As more students take AP and dual-enrollment courses, the line between high school and college gets blurry. These fast-track options promise savings and stronger college applications, but often at the expense of deep learning. Professors say students are arriving on campus unprepared for the demands of college-level thinking.
At the same time, high school risks losing its developmental role. The growing emphasis on acceleration can turn education into a checklist. In the rush to move ahead, students may miss the chance to develop curiosity, resilience, and meaningful engagement.
