A summer job gives kids more than spending money. It builds grit: showing up, taking feedback, and sticking with a task when it’s not easy. It teaches punctuality and budgeting. But quality summer jobs can be hard to find, so it’s important to start early. Parents can encourage kids to stop by local businesses and ask friends and family for connections.
If paid work isn’t available, volunteering in the community builds reliability and references. The real win with any job is learning how to show up.
