Into the Wild: Oyster reefs

TRANSCRIPT:

Oysters are much more than a favorite seafood. A single oyster can filter gallons of water each day, helping improve water quality and support healthy coastal ecosystems.

Oyster reefs also provide habitat for fish, crabs, and other marine life while helping reduce shoreline erosion. Across South Carolina, restoration efforts are helping rebuild oyster habitat and strengthen our coast.

Every oyster reef represents an investment in cleaner water, healthier fisheries, and a more resilient environment.
